Learning about the Opiate Epidemic: Ohio’s 2016 Opiate Conference

Addiction recovery conferences and the Ascent app

A couple of weeks ago we wrote about some of the events we would be attending this year relating to addiction and mental health. One of those events is the Ohio Opiate Conference which is being held in Columbus, Ohio next Monday and Tuesday and the other was Addiction: Closer Than You Think! which was held last Sunday in Sandusky, Ohio.

Addiction: Closer Than You Think! was an absolute great event held at a chapel in Sandusky. There were over 1,000 people in attendance and the focus was on creating more awareness around drug addiction and the heroin epidemic. The epidemic is rampant virtually everywhere in the United States, but this event paid special attention to the Ohio community. There were several organizations in attendance beside Ascent, including Celebrate Recovery, local students and addiction-related advocates. We met some amazing people at the event and were able to share Ascent with many new faces.

Next up on the docket for us is a large and exciting event called Ohio’s 2016 Opiate Event. This conference will take place at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus on May 2-3 and we are anxious to learn from and meet everyone in attendance. It will be put on by the Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities and the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction will also help host. This will be the seventh consecutive year for the conference and it will focus on advancing prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery.

We will have a table at this event along with many other inspirational organizations. Our founder, Brian Bailys, and our Business Development Manager, Jody Morgan, will be in attendance and happy to meet with anyone while there. This will be a very important event regarding one of the most pressing issues in the addiction landscape today, opiate addiction. Not only is it a major problem in Ohio, but it is also being addressed nationally. We have seen this firsthand with people using the Ascent solution. Although Ascent is available for anyone dealing with any type of addiction or mental illness, there are many people struggling with opiate addiction. This event–along with other upcoming events this year–will be monumental in creating additional awareness around the opiate epidemic and connecting some of the biggest influencers in the industry. We can’t wait to be a part of it!

If you will also be attending the Opiate Conference next week–or any of our other upcoming events–be sure to let us know. If you have any questions about the Ascent solution, reach out via our contact page at Ascent.org or email Wade Foley at wfoley@ascent.org. Remember, you are never alone in this fight and YOU are worth recovery.
